These Three Remain (again)

by Pamela Aidan.

The third in the trilogy. As I mentioned I skipped over Duty and Desire after the first book to get to this one more quickly. I absolutely love this one! This one covers the time in Kent through the end and it's such a great read. You get to witness Darcy's transformation from his point of view. It always makes me want to read P&P again - so that's what I'm doing now!

An Assembly Such as This (again - again) :)

by Pamela Aidan

A novel by Fitzwilliam Darcy. This is the third time reading this and man do I love it. This time actually came about after watching P&P for about the 100th time and then jumping right into this book. I love reading it from Darcy's point of view. I decided early on to skip the second book though so after finishing the first I jumped to the third. The second book contains no Elizabeth in it and strays pretty far from the P&P I know and love. While I'm missing out on some character development, the third book is by far the best and I'm very much looking forward to it!

Hunted (House of Night book 5)

by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast.

Needing a break from from the Vampire Earth series I decided to start this one since it's been a while. Although this will be full of violence I'm sure. But I've been curious how this story moves forward and I had the 5th book on my i-pod. I'm disappointed that they changed narrators (AGAIN) for the 6th book and wont' even buy it yet because the reviews of the new narrator are so horrendous. Actually since I switched to reading these in paperback form this narrator is different than the first and man is she YOUNG! Sounds like a 12 year old reading this which is very strange.

Having now finished this book I can say this - up until about halfway through I was ready to put it down and never look back (at the series). It was absolutely ridiculous! Way too much teenager angst over boys when hello! The world as you know it has ended! Pay attention to the real problems!

However the second half got back to the actual problem of fighting the evil that has come about and was much more interesting, moving the story forward significantly. So in the end I was very glad to read this one but I'm actually considering just stopping there. I don't know if I can put up with her boy problems anymore (just pick one already - any one - i honestly don't care!).

Valley of Silence (Circle Trilogy book 3)

by Nora Roberts.

The third book was the hardest for me to read. It took a while. Mostly because the book I was listening to (Choice of the Cat) and this one were both very violent and sometimes I need a break from work and violence is not relaxing. I did enjoy the book and eventually finished it and was very glad I did, it just went slower than the others.

Dance of the Golds (Circle Trilogy book 2)

by Nora Roberts.

The second book brings with it more violence, the 6 start to fight against the vampires when they can and more and more strengths are brought about. They prepare for the journey to Geall where the final war will be waged.

I enjoyed this one tremendously, I may have read it in a single day if I remember correctly and started right into the third.

Morrigan's Cross (Circle Trilogy book 1)

by Nora Roberts.

Another trilogy with 6 characters who come together to fight evil. This was quite enjoyable, mixing vampire lore with fairy lore and magic (witches and sorcerers). The first in this trilogy is the easiest to get through, while there's fighting the war hasn't actually started and you're learning more about the characters than anything else. Plus this book deals with the witch and sorcerer so it's filled with magic.

The Choice of the Cat (Vampire Earth book 2)

by. E.E. Knight.

The second book was very interesting, David has grown in ability and as a person. He truly is a one man army it seems. In this book he moves away from the Wolves and becomes a Cat although he's still a wolf at heart. He does some serious damage to the enemy (one of them) and develops a close relationship with a Grog. I look forward to seeing how the humans will learn to work with the Grogs to fight their common enemy. It will be a long road I believe.

Way of the Wolf (Vampire Earth book 1)

by E.E.Knight.

Well i needed a new book and found a new series :)

I purchased this book a while ago and it was the only thing on my ipod i hadn't listened to so it got nominated and I was hooked. It's sci-fi which isn't exactly what I normally read (but close enough) and I loved it.

The main character David Valentine is a human living during the time of the Kurian takeover (2050 thereabouts). He becomes a Wolf which is a soldier for the humans still revolting against the Kurians.

The story is captivating and action packed with enough friendships and human relationships to keep it interesting. I really enjoyed it and immediately wanted more when it was complete

Silent on the Moor (silent book 3) (again)

by Deanna Raybourn.

Unlike the other 2, this one I've only read once (when I re-read the others it was too close to having just finished this one). This one is however my favorite, the mystery is a good one and there's much more relationship between Brisban and Julia. There are some frustrating parts but not as bad as the second book (he was engaged to someone else in the second book!). I finished this up during some marathon costume sewing for the cousins! Ahh.. now what!

With this Ring (again)

by Amanda Quick.

And it continues (comfort reading) - can't be helped at this point. This one was a one day read and I think it's one of my favorite. There are references (slight) to both Vanzagara and Zamarian. Although no references to actual people from previous works.

Also the main character Beatrice is an author of horrid novels under the name Mrs. York which is referenced in other books. Plus the book plays along as a horrid novel (most of the Amanda Quick books do) but this one especially which I found quite neat.

Mistress (again)

by Amanda Quick.

It can't be helped, I'm back to the comfort book zone. I just couldn't help but grab this when I went to get a new book to start Sunday night.

I love how this one starts, she's posing (Iphignia) as Lord Masters' mistress because she believes him to be dead. I like that she is so independent (financially and just in general) because it gives her a stronger stance which makes the relationship more equal.

A Coral Kiss

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

Finally a book I haven't read before. I've been in a comfort book zone for a while so it was hard to pick something up that I don't "know" already but this book was good, I read it in one weekend. I always have trouble adjusting out of Amanda Quick/Victorian times but once I do I find myself enjoying more modern views on women's equality :)

This one had some danger and darkness to it which I really liked, more mystery although predictable. It was a nice relaxing book as JAK books usually are.

Silent in the Sanctuary (again) (silent series book 2)

by Deanna Raybourn.

Again!!! Nuff said :) Started right onto Silent on the Moor which is my favorite of them all :)

Lie by Moonlight (Vanza book 3) (again)

by Amanda Quick.

This is my favorite of the Vanza books, I love the female lead and her views on women's rights. This is the book I read first of Vanza and got me into it and standalone this book is great. I didn't catch any references back to the first two that I was hoping to but this one takes place a number of years later I think which is also interesting.

Wicked Widow (Vanza book 2) (again)

by Amanda Quick.

Read this one really quickly, started last night and finished it this morning.

I thee Wed (Vanza book 1) (again)

by Amanda Quick.

Just had to re-read the vanza books in order this time. While the Vanza stuff itself can be annoying (and i remember complaining about that the first time through), I really like the actual characters in the Vanza books.

Finished this up this weekend, I read most of the drive and finished it when we got home.

Wait Until Midnight (again)

by Amanda Quick.

Another re-read. This one is about Adam Hardesty and Caroline Fordyce who is an author for the Flying Intelligencer. This paper pops up in a few of her books but here, the heroine is a sensation author and she's a great deal of fun!

Silent in the Grave (again) (Silent series book 1)

by Deanna Raybourn.

Yup - AGAIN. An absolute favorite series and they re-did the audiobooks so that Ellen Archer was reading all 3! So a nice consistent listen I buzzed right through book one and on to book 2 already!

The River Knows (again)

by Amanda Quick.

Now that i've read all there is to read by Amanda Quick i miss them! So I'm going to re-read a few that I read over a year ago. This one was pretty much my favorite, it was my first by her that was not Arcane Society and it surely left an impression as being my favorite. I thoroughly enjoyed it the second time through knowing the characters a bit already!

One thing that kept bothering me was the mention of some side characters - Clement Corvus specifically and his female counterpart. I felt like they had a bigger part in a later book so I'll have to keep my eye out in case they come up again. I remember them so well and yet they have a pretty small part so I was mightily confused.

I'm also currently listening to Deanna Raybourne's Silent series again in audio form and there are strong similarities between Amanda Quick and the Silent series so I may have been pushing characters from one to the other.

Anyway - loved it the second time through enough to continue with the re-reads!

Red Lily (In the Garden book 3)

by Nora Roberts.

The last in the trilogy wraps up the mystery of the ghost and brings together Harper and Hayley. Hayley is plagued by possession by the ghost which adds a very interesting twist and helps us to learn more about the ghost.

I enjoyed the series, probably this last book the best of all of them.

Black Rose (In the Garden book 2)

by Nora Roberts.

The second from the In the Garden series. This one focuses on the relationship between Rosalind and the guy she hires to look into her family history. They are trying to solve the mystery of the ghost. The ghost gets much more active in this book as we start to learn a lot more about her feelings!

Divine Evil

by Nora Roberts.

ooooohhh.. this one is DARK. I love it. Some Satanistic rituals, a bunch of murder and mayhem, it's all about the mystery which I LOVE. The romance truly is on the back burner, not that it isn't highlighted but they don't fight it as much as they do in the books that are all about the romance. It's easier in the mystery books and I like it that way.

I loved the ending of this one, great twist and I hope I can find more Nora Roberts books like this, this was much closer to her JD Robb tone which is what got me hooked on her in the first place.

Obsidian Prey (Harmony book 6) (Arcane Society book 7)

by Jayne Castle.

I started this friday afternoon and finished it saturday morning after staying up late saturday. This was the much anticipated cross over of Arcane Society with Harmony although there wasn't a lot of Arcane Society in it. The male lead was from the Sweetwater line so it was nice getting to know that line that has come up often in the Arcane books.

It was also neat seeing some new Amber abilities and how the Amethyst Amber ability was tied to crystal workers. I like those kind of ties between books.

Blue Dahlia (In the Garden book 1)

by Nora Roberts.

No mystery in this series - a bit of a ghost story which adds some interest but mostly I like this series because of the 3 strong female characters and their interactions with each other. It's the start of a family in book one and watching that family grow, plus I enjoy the garden references which I think will get stronger in book 2 since it's about Roz who owns the nursery. Book 1 is about Stella who has 2 young boys was widowed 4 years ago (the first few chapters were very rough living through that part of her life with her). She unexpectedly finds herself in love with a man who is the complete opposite of her but who loves her and her boys so what can she do :)

I look forward to reading the next 2 in the series but FIRST i HAVE to read the new Jayne Castle "Obsidian Prey" which is a Harmony/Arcane Society cross over and I've been waiting for it!

River's End

by Nora Roberts.

Another enjoyable one, I didn't think I'd like this one as much as Carolina Moon, not knowing if there'd be enough mystery but I was wrong. I did like this one and it even had a twist at the end that made it even more interesting. I finished this up the friday after camping - I'm on a schedule of finishing books on a friday morning after a week of reading in the evenings :)

Without a Trace (O'Hurley's book 4)

by Nora Roberts.

This one was probably my favorite because there was more mystery involved and it tied things up nicely with the family getting all together at the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this series all in all even though it went really fast!

Skin Deep (O'Hurleys book 3)

by Nora Roberts.

I can relate to this character even less but the book is still enjoyable. This one had more mystery at least than the first two which made it interesting in that sense and not completely predictable until the end.

Carolina Moon

by Nora Roberts.

I'm not as big a fan of Nora Roberts as I am of JAK but i guess that's how it goes with these authors, the one you start out with is the one you like the most. However once in a while the Nora Roberts ones are great. I especially like the ones with a good mystery and some paranormal stuff and this one fit perfectly in both categories.

The main character is psychic to some degree and has moved back to her home town to solve the mystery surrounding the death of her best friend. The romance is just an aside as far as I'm concerned but the mystery is quite interesting and the reliving of her friend's life and death are great snippets. So I thoroughly enjoyed this one!

Dance to the Piper (O'Hurleys book 2)

by Nora Roberts.

The second in the series was just filler again but interesting. The dancer's life was interesting and while I couldn't relate it was still fun and the family was all there at some point. It's fun to see the couple that got together in the last book still together and how their lives are progressing. I finished this up after work on Monday and started right in on the third!

Surrender

by Amanda Quick.

Ahh.. another quick read - I read this on the train to and from NYC and it was perfect filler. Having just about finished all the Amanda Quicks I can say for sure I'll have to re-read some because they are just so satisfying. Actually since I have Desire (an older one) I actually started re-reading that just for fun, no need to make sure and finish it but good filler.

Anyway back to Surrender, I love the adventures in this one, and the Earl marrying her for her money and how she has to deal with that. It's always so funny that the male characters don't believe in Love, fall in love, but don't realize it and then always at the very very end finally admit it :) Something satisfying to know it will all work out in the end though!

Last Honest Women (O'Hurley book 1)

by Nora Roberts.

This series of romances has been in my audible waiting to be a time buster for me. They're short and satisfying.

They all follow the O'Hurley family which consists of triplet girls and an older brother. This first one is about Abby who was married young then widowed with two sons. She falls in love with the write who is writing the biography of her husband. Now that I'm on book 3 I can say of the girls, Abby is definitely my favorite but they are all interesting and I love the family element in all of them.

Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress book 4)

by Jeaniene Frost.

FINALLY - i put the release dates of the Night Huntress books on my calendar so when they come out I can order them and dive right in.

This one was great, I read it in 2 nights and gobbled it right up. This series is always full of anxiety about whether things will work out between the two characters and this one brought that to the extreme but since I read it very quickly I wans't in suspense for too long!

While this one wasnt' my favorite of the series I can't wait for the next and would love to re-read the first 3 now - unfortunately they are loaned out at the moment!

All Night Long

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

I read this one real fast - I do like JAK's work - especially her later stuff. The mystery was good, while dark due to the number of murders and motives the story was good. And love was in the air for sure - all the relationships blooming were predictable but feel good none the less. JAK is like comfort food but with a good mystery to keep the interest.

Gaudy Night (Lord Peter Whimsey book 3)

by Dorothy Sayers.

This was the best in the series as far as characters go, the slowest in the series as far as the mystery goes but all in all very enjoyable! I love the analyzing Harriet did of her relationship with Peter, finally we learn what really has happened in the last few years and we learn more about her feelings. Plus a new interesting character (Peter's nephew) joins us and he's is lots of fun.

While parts were hard for me to follow (for example the Warden - when she was addressed by her name I wouldn't realize it was the same person - same goes for the Bursar and Dean) but I'm not good with names anyway and they weren't really suspects by the middle of the book making that easier.

The mystery really had me going until the very end - while slow going it was very well done. The slowness was really brought on by the surroundings of the mystery, it took place over a couple of terms so that alone made it slow.

I can't wait to watch the tv series and then read the 4th book in the Peter/Harriet series!

Fire Study (Study book 3)

by Maria V. Snyder.

And the final in the trilogy. This book rounds out the relationship between Yelena and Leaf more, they become closer and Leaf becomes a more likable character. The first half of the book does not include Yelena's Ixian friends at all but the second half rectifies that and even includes a return to Ixia for Yelena (bringing along Leaf).
The second half of the book flies by, with Yelena in trouble, then in trouble, then in more trouble, with a doom and gloom about the whole thing, it's really best to just keep going and get to the end. Things more very fast, especially compared to the rest of the trilogy and a lot happens in the last 40 minutes especially (in the audio form).

I finished this up while working on the house Saturday and now I'm taking a short break from audiobooks (just for the next 2 weeks) so I can learn some Italian again.

Magic Study (Study book 2)

by Maria V. Snyder.

Another OLD FAVORITE! I started this immediately after finishing Poison Study. Magic Study, while it technically has less of Yelena's friends (Valek, Ari and Jenko), the relationships have filled out more so when they are in it the scenes are more exciting. They're also in it a lot more than I remembered them being in it.

While Poison Study is still my favorite, I really love this one too. Fire Study, the last is a great ending but it has this sense of doom and gloom about it. Magic Study is a great middle ground, plenty of happy times and a sense that things will go well (instead of not so well).

I finished this up on the drive down to my sister's house, then started up Fire Study on the drive back home.

Untamed (House of Night book 4)

by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast.

The 4th book is a much better situation than the 3rd. Zoey has learned a lot from her trials and tribulations and is stronger because of it. While things are getting worse in the "world" with evil getting stronger and more pronounced around her, she has a good support network and the relationships keep this one very interesting.

I read this for 3 hours Saturday morning and then another 2 hours Sunday night, finishing it up just before bed Tuesday night. I really liked this one but the ending leaves much to be desired. Things end in kind of a dramatic fashion and instead of wrapping anything up for the book it just leaves a big question (what will happen next?). Since this is a series that's understandable, I just wish I had found the series a little later so more of the books would be published already! Instead the 5th is still in hardcover (and I won't buy it that way) so I have to wait until Aug. 11 to get my new Audible credits so I can listen to it.

In the mean time it's back to Gaudy Night and I'm still listening to Magic Study so all things in the reading world are still good!

Chosen (House of Night book 3)

by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast.

I started this third one up right away - listened to it on the way up to Maine, made it about 3 1/2 hours in and then took a break to listen to some Maria V. Snyder. I have this in paperback as well so I'll either pick it up when I finish Gaudy Night OR when I get through the Study series by Maria V. Snyder, whichever comes first. The fourth book is in paperback only (I don't have the audiobook yet) so if I need to read that soon I have only one choice until August :)

Well I decided to finish this up in paperback form, I read faster that way and I couldn't "put down" the Study series in the middle. So Friday after I worked, I took a break to read and finished this one up. Even though this book is full of turmoil and lots of "bad" stuff happening I think it was very well done and i can see how all the "stuff" will help Zoey to grow as a person (she is still a kid). So while she didn't make the choices I would have made, I do remember that I wasn't the way I am now when I was her age either.

I jumped into the 4th book this weekend as well - Saturday morning I read for 3 hours and got halfway through so that one will be done quite soon :)

Poison Study (Study book 1)

by Maria V. Snyder.
Ahhhh - like comfort food. I jumped into this right after Opal's adventures in Storm Glass and boy am I glad. It made my 4 1/2 hour drive back from Maine fly and I finished this last night while stitching after work. It makes me want to stitch!

Good old Yelena as the food taster for the commander of Ixia. She's been through so much, she's such a strong character and she becomes stronger throughout the book, even falling in love. I really love this book and could read it over and over. There are only a few books I have that are like that.

So this is finished and I've already started the second (Magic Study) on the drive in to work this morning. Plus I read the short story Assassin Study that's on Maria V. Snyder's webpage and is a story of Valek that follows just after Poison Study, that's a fun adventure.

Storm Glass (Glass series book 1)

by Maria V. Snyder.

My friend and I chose this book as our stitching book while in Maine for a few days. It's a 12 hour "read" and brought back a bunch of very much loved characters from her Study series which we both loved (and I've read twice).

The story was great, I loved the characters as usual. The reader however was HORRIBLE. She mis-pronounced things - almost every single thing she could mis-pronounce. Plus her reading style didn't fit well with the character, the character is kind of young and naive and the reader made every phrase sound like something exciting was happening. Part of the problem is that Gabra Zackman is an awesome reader and she narrated the Study series so I think I was missing her most of all.

After listening to this book I immediately had the need to start up Poison Study again and re-listen to this trilogy. Especially while I wait for the next Opal book to come out - September - not a long wait!!!

Betrayed (House of Night book 2)

by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast.

I started this second book as soon as I could buy it on audible with my new credits. It picks up about a month after the first book takes place and continues to follow Zoey's life now filled with multiple romantic interests.

One thing I really like about these books is the emphasis on the goddess and circle casting, really draws and keeps me thinking about it. I really wasn't surprised by this book although I do have a problem with the relationship between Zoey and one of the professors but I don't always agree with a character's romantic interest and she is a young character.

I pretty much immediately started up the next book (Chosen) but I'm on a short hiatus while I re-listen to the Study series by Maria V. Snyder.

Marked (House of Night book 1)

by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast.

A new series I found on audible - it's a teenage vampire series and after reading chapter 1 online I immediately scooped up this book (july 2nd) and started right in on it.

The concept is of a vampire finishing schools. Vampires are not created in the traditional sense but instead are "marked" as teenagers when the "change" naturally starts to occur in the few chosen ones (chosen by the Goddess or some unknown genetic mutation?). Once marked they go to live at the finishing school to be among other Vampires and Vampire fledglings during their 4 year transition to become a true vampire (or end up dead if their body rejects the change).

In this first book we follow the main character Zoey as she gets marked and then goes to the finishing school where she finds out how special she is and starts to learn about her powers (she's been gifted by the goddess).

On thing about this book is that the author decided to spell Vampire as Vampyre which is annoying, luckily since I'm listening not reading these I don't get annoyed (sounds the same). I did order the first 4 books of this series to have in paperback (mostly so I could share this series with other people) but that word is definitely going to throw me off!

Have His Carcase (Lord Peter Whimsey book 2)

by Dorothy Sayers.

The second in this series (the series is actually much longer but I'm talking strictly about the books that include Harriet Vane) was also a delight. Harriet Vane goes for a hike and finds a dead body upon a rock. She's convinced it's murder although it looks like suicide at quick glance. Lord Peter Whimsey joins her in the hunt for the killer and the whole while still trying to convince her to marry him.

This book went slowly for me because I was so busy with other things but I really love the characters. While it's not hard to put down at times it's always enjoyable to pick up so it's a nice change of pace for a while!

Sepulchre

by Kate Mosse.

I enjoyed Labyrinth and was excited to see this book when it came out. I listened to both instead of reading them and I'm glad. Especially with all the french in this one, I couldn't understand it anyway and this way I at least got to hear it pronounced correctly. The french is probably my only complaint of the book, it was hard to follow in the beginning and some times i have trouble placing things that i can tell are important.

The story however is compelling and keeps one interested. There is a bit much in the description of every place/room/person but part of the delight of listening rather than reading is that I can picture the places a little better when it is described to me. When i'm actually reading I get bored and skip ahead but this kept my commute interesting :)

Strong Poison (Lord Peter Whimsey book 1)

by Dorothy Sayers.

This is a new series that a coworker started me on. She's letting me borrow the series (there are 4 total with Harriet Vane) and she highly recommended them. When she described them I was hooked already.

The first book is about a rich man who likes to do investigations in his free time. He goes to the trial of a woman accused of murdering her ex-fiance with poison. He believes her innocent and decides to prove it - with the hopes of convincing her to marry him after she is free. Sound Amanda Quickish? oh yea - except it's not the Victorian age :)

This was a delight to read and the mystery kept me guessing until the end which I loved. I can't wait to read the next.

Grand Passion

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

Back to a romance in the present and some mystery thrown in. I always enjoy JAK books and this was no different. Plus there was a strong family connection with lots of great characters to get to know which made it all the more interesting.

The heroine is an inn keeper and she is an aspiring author with one book published so far. Her suitor (unknown to him) is a successful do-everything guy who is looking for some art that was bequeathed to him, he finds the art but more importantly he finds a family.

Perfect Poison (Arcane Societ book 6)

by Amanda Quick.

This came out in April and I was on watch on Audible for it to become available. I snatched it up and listened to it in May. It was a real treat, I really love the Arcane series and I can't wait for the next one already!

This one was about Poison obviously, the main character can read traces of poisons and the best part was that this book told the story of Caleb Jones and how Jones & Jones was started up. I love how they all tie together :)

Late for the Wedding (Lavinia and Tobias book 3)

by Amanda Quick.

I have been a total blogger slacker. I read this quite a while ago (hmmm.. finished it maybe in a week - brought it home for the pigroast on memorial day weekend).

I really loved this trilogy and I was very happy to get to know the characters so well. It was a little confusing because I listened to Amanda Quick's perfect Poison at the same time and I kept getting confused but all worked out!

Don't Look Back (Lavinia and Tobias book 2)

by Amanda Quick.

I started this one Tuesday May 5 and finished it last night. This is the second in the Lavinia Lake and Tobias March trilogy. I really enjoyed this one and of course had a few laugh out loud moments which I find tends to happen more in the "series" ones where you get to know the characters so much more. I love the characters in this one and can't wait to read the third and final Lavinia book which I'm sure has a wedding in it since it's called "Late for the Wedding" :)

However I do not have the third yet, so I need something to read in the mean time and I have no idea what I'll pick up!

Slightly Shady (Lavinia and Tobias book 1)

by Amanda Quick.

This series of books are the last Amanda Quick books I have left to read (barring new ones coming out). I put them off not sure if I'd like a trilogy that is about the same couple HOWEVER since I LOVE the silent series (different author but same concept and similar time period even) ... I decided to finally give these a try.

I started this one Saturday (may 2) and finished it last night. This had a lot of similarities to Deanna Raybourne's Silent series, including the fact that the female lead does quite a bit of the solving of the mystery which I really like. One big difference though is that in this series the two main characters are definitely having an affair and in the Silent series they are trying hard not too for various reasons.

Smoke and Mirrors

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

This one was well done with multiple voices for the different characters, sometimes that throws me off but I liked this one. The mystery was good in this one and of course the characters were great. I think my only complaint was that sometimes (more in the beginning) the two readers seem to overlap each other a bit - almost sound like interrupting, rushing along, and sometimes the scene didnt' call for it so it was out of place and threw the listener off.

Silent in the Sanctuary (silent series book 2)

by Deanna Raybourne.

I love love love this series! And I'm catching new things this second time around. For example the reference to the Duchess of Devonshire - since I saw the movie The Duchess I now understand the reference to Devonshire! It's great!

I just finished this book and I'm not sure if I'll do book 3 yet or not since I just listened to it recently. I did not purchase it in paperback yet because it's not mass market so I may wait. That means I have to decide what to read next!

Truth or Dare (Whispering Springs book 2)

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

And the second one does not disappoint :) I figured this book would deal more with her psychic ability which was great. The same two characters (not usually the case for a JAK/AQ series but it was very enjoyable. Plus there were a lot more characters to get to know and like and more than one romantic couple which made it even more interesting!

Silent in the Grave (silent series book 1)

by Deanna Raybourne.

I loved this even more the second time through. I even found a passage I wanted to mark because of the great foreshadowing. I absolutely love this series and I can't wait to start on the second one again now :)

An Assembly Such as This

by Pamela Aidan

A novel by Fitzwilliam Darcy. This is Pride & Prejudice from Mr. Darcy's point of view and is done in a trilogy. This is the second time I've read this but since I re-read P&P just a short while ago I had to give this another go-round.

I love this trilogy - almost as much as the original P&P! Reading this again was a real treat, except for the ending, once Darcy goes back to London I seem to lose interest. Due to this I'm skipping the second book and starting the third right off now which is Darcy going to Lady Catherine's where he will see Elizabeth! What a treat it is to re-read these, I finished this one last night and started the third before going to sleep.

Light in Shadow (Whispering Springs book 1)

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

I bought both Whispering Springs books in audible format and wasn't sure which one was first :) But this must be the first one... I figured after I listened to one minute of the second first by accident!

I really liked this book, it's almost Arcane Society like but without the society. I'm hoping the second one goes more into the psychic ability. This had some good mystery and almost an Amanda Quick feel with the "fake marriage" theme. I'm very excited to start the second (Truth or Dare) next!

Silent on the Moor (silent book 3)

by Deanna Raybourn.

I bought this the very day it came out in audio form! I've been waiting so long for it! My first (and hopefully only) complaint - they changed readers AGAIN! That's 3 different readers. Luckily there has been a lot of time since I listened to the first 2 so I could almost forgive this - but I really wanted to re-listen to 1 and 2 but that would have driven me batty. Instead a friend of mine listened to 1 and 2 and gave me very detailed recaps so I was ready to start 3.

I thought this was a trilogy at first, when I found out it was a series instead I was a little worried certain things would get dragged out, get old etc. But she has done an amazing job with this series so far. I absolutely loved this one! I even went and ordered the first two in paperback so I can re-read them now! This series is right up there in my very favorites.... if I recall correctly my favorites right now are:

Pride & Prejudice
As Assembly Such as This ... (trilogy by Lady Aidan)
Poison/Magic/Fire Study trilogy
Silent series

So it's really up there!

Northern Lights

by Nora Roberts.

This book is huge - it's from my mom, I generally like Nora Roberts when she writes a series (love her JD Robb series, and I enjoyed the Sign of 7 Series immensely). This was my first stand alone book by her.

The timing was very strange, lifetime is showing these 4 Nora Roberts book based movies, one each saturday and last saturday they showed the first - Northern Lights. Instead of watching it I started the book. However Tuesday night it was on again and i did catch the beginning, i went to bed however once it passed where I was in the book (which was early on) and my husband watched it without me (he's a funny guy). All in all the book was okay, a bit long for what it was and kind of dragged on. Definitely didn't keep my attention the way the Amanda Quicks do but it was enjoyable.

I finished this last night so it took a week and a half to read, that alone is an indicator that it couldn't keep me reading. Plus I'm listening to Silent on the Moor right now and THAT one is enthralling!!!!!!!

The Pagan Stone (Sign of 7 series, book 3)

by Nora Roberts.

What a great trilogy! Scary but great. I was up until 2am Sunday night finishing this book because I just had to see how it ended. I love books like that. It's not a great series for bedtime reading if you're easily scared though. I woke up about 3am thinking spiders were coming down from the ceiling to attack me! Luckily it didn't keep me awake too long :)

I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a little paranormal mystery and suspense.

The Hollow (Sign of 7 series, book 2)

by Nora Roberts.

I read that one fast! It's only Friday - I think I started it Wednesday night? I finished it this morning. I love this series. She always ends with a bang and I love all the mystery. I still have no idea how this will end up going which is great too. I'm sure I'll start the third one some time this weekend. I've been working some late nights and using this book as a good distraction before bed. It's kind of on the scary side for bedtime reading though!

Blood Brothers (Sign of 7 series book 1)

by Nora Roberts.

Wow! I have not read a lot of Nora Roberts (although I've read almost all of her J.D.Robb books and I love them!). This book was great. It's heavy on the paranormal and almost Stephen King like. The romance is still there but not overly done and I love the group of characters. She ties them all right in together, building some great bonds. I can't wait to see where this goes. I was very skeptical about how she would end book 1 but she did a great job. I can't wait to start book 2 maybe tonight!

Summer in Eclipse Bay (Eclipse Bay book 3)

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

The third and final in the Eclipse Bay series. I enjoyed wrapping this series up, it wasn't as gripping but it had a nice family element since there was a son involved. I think there will be more tie ins to this series (she pulled A.Z. into one of the Arcane books, I have a feeling Virgil will also get pulled into something so we learn a bit about his history).

Trust Me

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

Back to a time period where I understand the male/female relationship a little better. This one was great. I like the element of family in it. The drama from Desdemona took some getting used to since I'm such an introvert, I tended to see things from Sam's point of view more. I really enjoyed the book though.

Hmmm.. my bedside pile is now empty. I think with the house purchase coming along quickly and sewing for my sister's wedding that might be a good thing. I've been procrastinating too much and with a great excuse (reading). Time to read some books on Electrical work!

Seduction

by Amanda Quick.

The last on my bedside table for now. This one was good, not as good as knights, I actually spread out the reading over a few days this weekend. It was still very enjoyable though. The mystery was very much lacking, a bit more romance in this one which is fine but I tend to like the danger a bit more.

Next up is a JAK - Trust Me I believe.

Mystique

by Amanda Quick.

This one was quite good. It seemed to be set in Medieval times instead of Victorian times, quite interesting. I really liked it - knights and castles :) I read this in 24 hours staying up until 3 am last night and finishing it this morning when I got up. It really was very good and I loved the characters, quite fun. Same theme of pretending to be engaged with the male lead always intending to marry but the female doesn't want to marry him unless he loves her, at least she had a good reason this time - her mother was in a loveless marriage (loved her father but her father didn't love her). Very well done.

Next up - Seduction :) That will be it for my Amanda Quick pile, i have one JAK after that, then I may be in the market for some new books!

Mistress

by Amanda Quick.

Wow this one went very quickly... lets see - familiar theme - female poses as mistress of the male lead thinking he is dead - but he's not. They continue the charade while trying to catch a blackmailer. For a change the "bad" guy was portrayed as friendly and nice but generally if they are not a close friend of the male character and the male character doesn't like them, eventually it will turn out to be the bad guy :)

Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows book 1)

by Kim Harrison.

This one took me a long while to get through, it just didn't grab me. It was interesting and I like the characters for the most part but I'm not sucked in and I don't think I'll continue the series. I found myself choosing to listen to the radio in the morning over this book and I really need books on my ipod that make me want to go for a walk mid-day instead of giving me excuses not to!

Deception

by Amanda Quick.

The next in line (I'm going alphabetical now).

This one is very intriguing, pirates and treasure, lots of fun. The female lead has 3 young nephews living with her which makes for some great family dynamics. The lead male character is from a family of pirates, but he's a business man. They make quite the pair and of course they end up posing as married (but more by accident than usual, kind of a backup plan). The mystery revolves around the hidden treasure which is a nice twist!

Affair

by Amanda Quick.

I have started on a pile of Amanda Quicks as bedtime reading. Not always a good idea because sometimes I end up staying up quite late to keep reading!

This one is about a woman who created her own business when her step father died leaving her and her sister penniless. She then needs to hire a new man-of-affairs/bodyguard when she decides to investigate the murder of a client. Eventually the man-of-affairs bit isn't enough and they decide to pose as an engaged couple and start up an affair. All very normal Amanda Quick - gotta love it when it's more of the same that you love!

Running Hot (Arcane Society book 5)

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

I love the Arcane Society series! And book 6 comes out in April. I waited to read Running Hot because I really didn't want hard cover but then it came out in audible and I scooped it up! Hopefully book 6 will do the same.

This one has a tie back to the Eclipse Bay series that I've also almost finished. Really neat! I really like the Arcane series because there's a little more danger and a lot of mystery and the paranormal twists are just great. I can't get enough of these!

This one had a lot of setup for a future one that I assume is coming down the pike which will tie up a romance for Fallon Jones. Not the next though - that's an Amanda Quick so it's back to Victorian Age!

Dawn in Eclipse Bay (Eclipse Bay book 2)

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

This is the second in the Eclipse Bay series. After enjoying the first one after Christmas I went and bought the second and third. This one was very enjoyable, I still think the Madison/Harte Romeo & Juliet theme is a little over done but it wasn't bad. This time there was no murder - still a little danger and mystery though. And the first two characters from book 1 made a nice appearance. Also a setup for book 3 was given (just like in book 1).

I'm not jumping to read book 3 (which is good since my sister is borrowing it) - I think I'm going to jump into the world of Amanda Quick for a while (I have 5 stacked up). Then get back to Eclipse Bay later. I think Running Hot (Arcane book 5) which I will start listening to today ties into Eclipse Bay by referencing Arizona Snow (A.Z.) which should be neat!

Dark Light (Harmony series book 5)

by Jayne Castle (again).

This is my 100th post! Neat :)

Well I re-read Dark Light - it went really fast but it was very worth it to read again, all of the characters that are referenced I actually knew this time, it was great! That finishes up the Jayne Castle series for now until she rights a new one, she's hinting at having a crossover with the Arcane Society series - that would be great!

Just checked the website - a new Arcane Society book (6) is coming out in April - it's Amanda Quick so it's Victorian Age, then this summer a new Jayne Castle? Arcane Society is coming out (Harmony book 6/Arcane 7?). Oh goody!!!

You Slay Me (Aisling Grey, Guardian, book 1)

by Katie MacAlister.

I got this on an audible sale and decided to try it - it's a dragon series and I am always obsessed with dragons. It was okay, it was very witty and funny, the romance was a bit over the top (she thinks the guy is a murderer but can barely keep her clothes on in front of him) - hard to relate to that part. I did enjoy it and would like to read the rest of the series, mostly because her next connected series (Silver Dragons) starts after Aisling book 4 but from the reviews it sounds like I'll like the actual relationship in that one better. I really liked the demon Jim, some great comedic relief!

Silver Master (Harmony Series book 4)

by Jayne Castle.

This one was great, I love the silver light part - how neat. It also made me excited to read book 5 again (even though i already read it out of order) as now I understand the history behind the different ghost lights. I liked this one better than Ghost Hunter, couldn't exactly say why but I did and I read this one all in 24 hours (started Wednesday, finished Thursday). Thursday night I started Dark Light for the second time. What on earth will I do when these are over!!! I know she's still writing these (actually there was rumor of tying her Arcane Society series into these which would be great!) I guess it's back to Amanda Quick next (I have 4 new ones on my bedside table waiting!).

Ghost Hunter (Harmony Series book 3)

by Jayne Castle.

Wow - okay I'm going through these fast. The third book was some new characters however they managed to tie in the main characters from 1 and 2 a bit. Even though the book is so predictable (if they mention something it's usually important later on) I still can't put these down! I thoroughly enjoyed the short time I spent reading this one :) Let's see I finished this one Wednesday night (started it late Sunday night) I believe. Then I jumped into the next one and finished that as well!

After Glow (Harmony Series book 2)

by Jayne Castle.

As I mentioned I jumped right into this one and couldn't put it down. I spent the whole day reading it and as I suspected, all stories came together in the end leaving nothing open - very satisfying. I really like this series so far and I jumped into number 3 right before bed for a quick start :)

After Dark (Harmony Series book 1)

by Jayne Castle.

This is the first in the futuristic world of Harmony series. I had already read book 5 so I was really looking forward to this one. It was very good, as usual I could tell something was important as soon as it was brought up - stories and hints are not given unless there is a reason. However at the end of this one you are definitely left with open story lines. I was very confused about this until I realized that the second book is actually a continuation with the same characters! I was very happy about that :)

I spent Sunday morning finishing this one up and dove right into the second one (also finishing that by Sunday night) - i did nothing but read on Sunday - it was wonderful!

Eclipse Bay

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

I got this book for Christmas, it's the first of a trilogy by JAK. It's a good one, the only annoying bit is the Madison vs. Harte type Romeo and Juliet references that get kind of old but otherwise I really liked the book and already purchased books 2 and 3 so I can read them next!

Little Women

by Loisa May Alcott

This is a long one and when it went on sale on Audible I jumped at the chance to finally "read" it. I love this book, love the characters, the story telling, everything. The reader was great and kept me very interested. Even knowing what was going to happen, I still had the same reactions I did when I first watched the movie. Now of course I want to watch the movie again!

Wait Until Midnight

by Amanda Quick.

This one was a great mystery, I thoroughly enjoyed and followed along guessing until close to the end as it wasn't a complete give away. Being one of her newer works, the characters are a little easier for me to relate to, being less tied to Victorian era beliefs. This was extremely pleasant to read.

Reckless

by Amanda Quick.

Another good one of course. I really liked the female lead but they definitely brought up how "reckless" she was a lot. The only part I didn't enjoy in this one was essentially the arranged marriage. My feminist side just scoffed at the very idea behind that part. That's my only issue with the Victorian age mysteries, I prefer the ones with more "forward" thinking about women's roles in society.

Rendezvous

by Amanda Quick.

This one was extremely predictable but of course engaging and I had a great time reading it. I really liked Pompeia the woman's club and the strong female lead character. As always this was a quick read and very enjoyable.
