The Third Circle (Arcane Society book 4) (again)

by Amanda Quick.

Again, re-reading these in historical order instead of written order. I read this one very quickly (almost in a single day) and since I was not feeling well I don't even remember much of it.

Main characters are Thaddeus Ware (mesmerist) and cousin to Caleb Jones. Leona Hewitt (crystal/dream worker) who has only one family member Uncle Edward (who went to America on an investment scheme).
Thaddeus' aunt Victoria (matchmaker) is a main character as well.

Adam Harrow and Mr. Pierce are main characters again in this one as well.

As for the hoodlums in this book - we have Dr. Basil Hulsey (chemist), Lancing (parahunter), Delbridge (collector of antiquities) and the entire Third Circle.

Next up would be Perfect Poison however that one is still quite expensive so I may wait. I still remember that one pretty well too.

Second Sight (Arcane Society book 1) again

by Amanda Quick.

Reading this on my kindle now I've been inspired to come up with a family tree of sorts that maps out the characters in each book. There are some family names that recur throughout the books that I want to keep track of.

This one for example tells the story of Gabriel Jones (parahunter) and Venetia Milton (Aura talent).

Other characters include ...

Amelia Milton (Sister), Edward Milton (Brother), Beatrice (Aunt)
Hippolyte Jones (senses other talents) (Father), Marjorie Jones (card talent) (Mother), Caleb Jones (strat) (cousin)

John Stillwater (parahunter) son of ?? - tied to Arcane Society

Rosalind Flemming AKA Charlotte Bliss (mesmerist)

Adam Harlow and Mr. Pierce (crime lord) (women dressed as men)

Second Sight goes through the history of the Arcane Society in relation to the "formula". The formula has been stolen and the people that stole it are looking for the antidote. Venetia is posing as Gabriel's widow until he comes back from the dead to claim his bride. She is a photographer and he is set up to become the next Master of the Arcane Society.

Fired Up (Dreamlight Trilogy book 1, Arcane Society book 7)

by Jayne Ann Krentz.

Yea! A new book - and it hit the NY Times best sellers list so it was 9.99 on the kindle! So i purchased this and jumped right in!

I love the Arcane Society series and this is the first in the Dreamlight Trilogy so it had a lot of new stuff with lots of references to the other books. It also had a lot of build up to the Fallon Jones book and the next Dreamlight book which comes out in April and is by Amanda Quick.

One thing I was kind of disappointed with is that she wrote the 21st century one before the Victorian age one so there was a lot of reference to something I hadn't read yet. But since these books are so predictable at least it didn't give anything away that wasn't obvious.

This book makes me want to go back and read the Arcane series in order chronologically (starting with all the Amanda Quick's then going on to the JAK's). So i purchases Second Sight and Sizzle and Burn on kindle to start right away.

These Three Remain (again)

by Pamela Aidan.

The third in the trilogy. As I mentioned I skipped over Duty and Desire after the first book to get to this one more quickly. I absolutely love this one! This one covers the time in Kent through the end and it's such a great read. You get to witness Darcy's transformation from his point of view. It always makes me want to read P&P again - so that's what I'm doing now!

An Assembly Such as This (again - again) :)

by Pamela Aidan

A novel by Fitzwilliam Darcy. This is the third time reading this and man do I love it. This time actually came about after watching P&P for about the 100th time and then jumping right into this book. I love reading it from Darcy's point of view. I decided early on to skip the second book though so after finishing the first I jumped to the third. The second book contains no Elizabeth in it and strays pretty far from the P&P I know and love. While I'm missing out on some character development, the third book is by far the best and I'm very much looking forward to it!

Hunted (House of Night book 5)

by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast.

Needing a break from from the Vampire Earth series I decided to start this one since it's been a while. Although this will be full of violence I'm sure. But I've been curious how this story moves forward and I had the 5th book on my i-pod. I'm disappointed that they changed narrators (AGAIN) for the 6th book and wont' even buy it yet because the reviews of the new narrator are so horrendous. Actually since I switched to reading these in paperback form this narrator is different than the first and man is she YOUNG! Sounds like a 12 year old reading this which is very strange.

Having now finished this book I can say this - up until about halfway through I was ready to put it down and never look back (at the series). It was absolutely ridiculous! Way too much teenager angst over boys when hello! The world as you know it has ended! Pay attention to the real problems!

However the second half got back to the actual problem of fighting the evil that has come about and was much more interesting, moving the story forward significantly. So in the end I was very glad to read this one but I'm actually considering just stopping there. I don't know if I can put up with her boy problems anymore (just pick one already - any one - i honestly don't care!).
